Since 1858 the family owned company of Wilh. Schmitt & Comp. in Remscheid - Germany, has been producing high quality woodworking tools. These tools are 100% manufactured in Germany. Each chisel is hand forged from a special High-Carbon steel, ground,  hardened to 61 Rockwell, and then polished and sharpened, in essentially the same way for nearly 150 years
